Brett Crosby ~ Alpaca Shearing Service

                        ~SHEARING CHAMPION ALPACAS~

NOW BOOKING FOR 2010 SHEARING SEASON

Serving All of California

Are you in need of gentle, caring, reliable and expert shearing for your animals?

Bio-security procedures practiced.  Gentle, careful placement of your animals is practiced, we do not drop them to the ground. They are lifted and gently laid down and then their legs are secured with soft cotton ties.  Our method of placement is the most stress free around !

We are pleased to offer the services of our experienced shearing team.  Brett Crosby, The Alpaca Shearer will come to you and shear your animals the way you want.  Brett is our ranch manager (he is also an alpaca owner) and has daily contact with the alpacas on our ranch.  Experienced and gentle.

During shearing season a team will be coming to your ranch, this means that there will be a header traveling with Brett.  A header is who will aid in the physical labor of laying down the alpacas for shearing and also will be the one who holds the head of the animal while Brett is shearing.  This increases greatly the safety to your animal as well as to the shearer.  You are still needed to bring the alpaca in a timely manner to the shearing area as well as gather the fleece as it is removed from the animal.  If you wish to hold the head you must have the skill and knowledge and strength to do so.  Please plan to provide enough help to make the day go smoothly.

The pro-tie method is administered to safely secure your animals. They are laid  on a padded surface for their comfort and ours.  They are treated with kindness and sheared in the style you wish. We prefer shearing on the ground because we do what  is best for the alpaca and their level of stress is greatly reduced on the ground rather than elevated. Toenails may be trimmed as well as front teeth trimmed and fighting teeth upon your request. Brett uses three sets of shears so that he always has a backup in case one is unusable. Shots can also be given.

If you wish a ''show blanket'' please provide the sheet, paper or plastic (approx 4' x 6' works best) you would like to have it packaged in.  Show blankets are professionally removed in one piece with no second cuts.

Please take into consideration when booking you give an accurate count of animals you wish sheared.  It is very important to our scheduling accuracy.  Brett reserves the right to refuse to shear any animals he feels unhealthy or unsafe to shear. PLEASE do not book for 10 and then expect 25 to be done as most likely he will have another ranch booked that same day.

Over night accommodations are appreciated.

Llamas can be shorn as well.  Sorry no sheep or goats.

Fees reflect the animal and style you wish.
